Very few attorneys (1.2%) are board certified in personal injury law. Why?
The Texas Board of Legal Specialization allows attorneys to be board certified in personal injury law and become re-certified every 5 years once they have:
Completed 10 jury trials
Passed a day long personal injury law specialization test
Practiced law for at least 5 years
Completed 100 hours of continuing legal education in personal injury law every 5 years
Received the recommendation of 10 other attorneys including judges, co-counsel, and opposing counsel
Imagine that...
…your attorney had to ask his opponents for recommendations. Imagine that your attorney had to ask judges and other attorneys in the community for a recommendation. Other attorneys and judges that look to your attorney as an expert in his or her field. That is the type of attorney you want when you have an important case. That is the type of attorney who gets the attention of insurance companies and corporate defendants.
Many attorneys don’t become board certified. They are not able to get the required recommendations, are not able to pass the test, or are afraid to go to trial.
Many of the few board certified personal injury law attorneys work for the insurance companies or as judges, so they are unable to represent you. Steve Kuzmich is one of the very few attorneys board certified in personal injury law who does not work for the insurance companies.
Steve Kuzmich – Board Certified 2003 – 2008
Recertified 2008 to 2013, 2013 to 2018, 2018 to 2023, and 2023 to 2028
The Texas State Bar only allows lawyers with the board certification to claim they are a specialist or expert in personal injury law.
If you need an attorney for a life changing injury or death case, don’t risk hiring an attorney that is not board certified.
